Kamil, something is wrong with the name "iPad" if you confuse it with "iPod."

Let's see if I can anticipate what Laura would think: A tablet computer will be successful if it's perceived as creating a new niche category, unsuccessful if it's perceived as a line extension.

I wonder how well Apple will compete with copycats in this category.

A picture is worth a thousand copywriters. Verizon won this fight with "the map." Brazil is hosting the 2016 Olympics because of "the map." OJ is a free man because of "the gloves." The words don't stick the say a visual does - we're a highly visual species.

Until AT&T can do to the idea of "speed" what Verizon has done with the idea of "coverage," they will be second. Verizon has seized control of the public dialog, so they win.

Verizon and AT&T is a classic war of Rome vs Hannibal. Rome conquered the known world, while Hannibal became a thorn in Rome side by pillaging Rome's territories, as AT&T is doing with Verizon. Verizon has conquered much territory.

Verizon could put AT&T out of their misery, simply by positioning AT&T as a grandfather brand, and Verizon as an always "evolving concept" innovative brand. "Out with the old in with the new."

Hannibal won many battles, but he was just predictable in his fighting style, whereas the Romans or Verizon kept innovating new tactics and fighting styles to defeat the competition.
